What the Challenge Asks of You
Hank and Tricky Musical Challenge is a rhythm game built around a single track: the Headache song. You play as two characters, Hank and Tricky, and your only job is to hit every note with correct timing. Arrows appear above the character and travel toward a target area. When an arrow overlaps that area, you press the matching arrow key. Press too early or too late, and the note counts as a miss.
How a Run Ends
The game tracks your performance with a progress bar, so you can see how far through the song you have made it. A single miss does not end the run, but missing too many notes in a row does. That failure state forces a restart, which makes consistency more important than raw reaction speed. The Headache song has a fixed chart, so the arrow patterns repeat in the same order each attempt.
Who Made It and Why It Is Open-Source
This is a mod created by multiple contributors, including RainyCobra, Charmx The King, MashProTato, and XxKrakenxX, among others. It is based on the original work by ninjamuffin99, with art by PhantomArcade 3K and Evilsk8r, and music by Kawai Sprite. The game is open-source, which means players can support the original developers directly. The content is family-friendly and suitable for all ages, focusing on rhythm and reflex skills rather than mature themes.
Reading the Arrows Instead of Reacting Blindly
Because the arrows float toward a fixed overlap point, the most reliable approach is to keep your eyes near the center of the screen. That way you can see both the incoming arrows and the exact moment they meet the target. Watching the rhythm of the music rather than the arrows alone also helps you anticipate when notes will arrive. If the game offers a slower speed option, starting there lets you learn the arrow patterns before pushing for full-speed accuracy.
